Proof of name and residency

In order to comply with the Money Laundering regulations and Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, we are required by law to obtain proof of your name and your residency

A) Proof of name and your signature - Each borrower must provide one  original document

  • Valid passport (UK or EU) - THIS THE PREFERRED PROOF
  • Current EU or UK Driving Licence
  • Firearms certificate
  • Residents permit issued by the Home office to EU Nationals

B) Proof of residency showing current address - Each borrower must provide two original documents

  • Utility bill dated within 3 months (Gas, Electricity, Water or Land Telephone line)
  • Council tax bill dated within 12 months
  • Bank statement dated within 3 months (online statements are not acceptable)
  • Credit card statement dated within 3 months (online statements are not acceptable)

Joint statements or bills may only be used for ONE applicant and the other applicant must provide additional proof of residency.

Can I send photocopies?

We recommend that the orginal documents for proof of residency are sent to us and a photocopy of the proof of name and signature is certified and sent to us.

The process of certifying photocopies
Obtain a photocopy of your proof of name which clearly shows your photo and signature. Then take this photocopy together with the original documents to one of the following:

Accountant, Bank, Solicitor, Independent Financial Advisor

Please ask them to write on the photocopy:

"Certified to be a true likeness and copy of the original" and sign it, providing details of the firm, address and regulatory number. They can use a business stamp instead if they have one.
